Week 11: Building the Bot

Overview of Activity

Today, we built the robotics kits that members received! Members used specific parts from the kits to build a splendid Arduino robot. If you want more help or have missing parts, contact us on our discord server or email us! Also email us if you are interested in having a kit and doing activities like this one and future activities!

Tips/Tricks for Building

  • Make sure your parts are oriented correctly, so you don't have to unscrew and rescrew them.

  • Don't put the sensors in, we will do that in a later meeting.

  • If your kit is bad (board missing holes, something doesn't line up, etc.), try to be creative and improvise a way for it to work. If you're stumped, contact us!

  • For the aluminum block you attach to the motors, screws only screw into one side. If it isn't screwing in, you are on the wrong side; simply just flip the block upside down and rescrew. Another way to tell is to look into the hole and see the spiral threads in the hole. The only way to attach your motor is to screw in through the board and the threaded holes.
