CAD
What is CAD?
Virtual Before Reality
CAD (Computer Aided Design) is used to visualize and create designs on a computer by creating 3D models before bringing them into the real world. A prerequisite to building, CAD allows members to effectively share ideas, design parts and assemblies, and create animations and renders. This gives builders a blueprint to follow when building; a design is always CADed before being built in real life.
CAD Programs We Use:
Autodesk Fusion 360
Autodesk Fusion 360 is the program primarily used by our CAD team. It is used to introduce people to 3D modeling, and we do most of our modeling on it. Most of our 3D prints and renders were made in Fusion 360.
Autodesk Inventor
Autodesk Inventor is the secondary program used by our CAD team. For students that are also taking our school's Intro to Engineering Design class, Inventor serves as an intermediate CAD program.
Solidworks
Solidworks is the third program used by our CAD team. For those that plan to go into industry, Solidworks is used to align with job requirements and manufacturing.
3D Models and Renders:
