Week 6: Assembling Shattered Cubes

Overview of Activity

Oh no! Hack_officers.exe, the program used to control the officers, broke your name cubes (see Week 4 and Week 5)! Luckily, with the power of CADing, you can undo this tragedy and repair your cubes! Here are some examples of repaired cubes!

Lesson/Tutorial:

*note: all cubes' joints are different, except for the 3 joints shown in the video. The buttons being pressed are shown in the bottom right of the screen. Feel free to follow along!

Additional Tips!

There are some useful tools under the Inspect bar at the top of the screen. Section analysis allows you to see the insides of your cube, allowing you to better see if you jointed correctly. Component Color Cycling Toggle allows you to see each separate component in a different color. (see right)

If you mess up and accidentally click something you didn't mean to, you don't have to reset your joint. You can deselect a point by clicking the x next to 1 selected. (see bottom left)

If you mess up your joint, you can delete it by selecting it by clicking on it (it looks like blue and white puzzle pieces) and then pressing backspace/delete. Alternatively, you can right click it and select delete in the dropdown menu. You know you've selected it when the entire icon turns dark blue (see bottom middle)

Can't look at where you want to look? Use the View Cube at the top right of your screen! If you click the house it will return you to the original angle, and you can drag your around for a better angle. You can also hold down your scrolling wheel to drag the whole screen left or right. (see bottom right)
